Ethanol and Bio Gas
Dry mill ethanol and biogas production facilities are an excellent fit for CHP. They have large and relatively constant power and heat demands, and they operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with electricity and heat loads closely matching the output of Alcor’s gas turbine CHP systems. Furthermore, energy represents a large portion of production costs, second only to the cost of the fuel stock.
Analysis by the EPA's Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Partnership shows a strong technical fit for CHP in ethanol and biogas facilities
and a potential reduction of approximately 15%-25% percent in the energy intensity of production
Alcor’s Combined Heat and Power systems can be an excellent solution for the energy needs of ethanol and biogas production
facilities. With Alcor CHP, a plant can do the following:
- Generate electricity and steam reliably on-site
- Reduce energy and operating costs.
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts
- Optimize the use of alternative fuels, including those produced on-site
Alcor’s CHP systems can be integrated into new and expanding dry mill ethanol and biogas facilities or retrofitted into existing operations.
